Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), is a form of non-surgical micro-needling. It is a minimally invasive treatment that involves the use of a medical grade hand piece containing fine needles that is worked over an area of skin to help stimulate the production of collagen.
It is used for:
Collagen Induction Therapy works by stimulating our body’s natural collagen production system.
During the treatment, tiny micro-needles (sharp fine needles) on the medical grade handpiece are moved systematically over the chosen treatment area. The fine needles create evenly spaced micro-punctures in the skin.
The tiny-punctures create micro-damage within the skin, which triggers the body’s natural collagen production. Over next few months after the treatment the amount of collagen in the skin will increase giving the skin a revitalised, plumper and smoother looking appearance.
At Beauty Revival we use a medical grade handpiece that is linear in shape, this unique system delivers the needles almost painlessly into the skin at varying speed and depth depending on the area being treated.
Compare this to traditional round pen style devices commonly used and the skin is far less traumatised as these two research paper photos show.
The one on the left is the trauma caused by traditional round head pen devices compared to the unique linear style handpiece used at Beauty Revival.
One of the other unique selling points of this amazing hand piece is that the puncture wounds close within 12-15 mins as opposed to 12 hours with a round head pen.
At Beauty Revival we combine this treatment with medical grade mesotherapy serums which enhance and turbo boost the effects of this amazing skincare treatment.
Some serums tighten the skin whist others reduce hyperpigmentation and lighten the skin but all of them add vitamins and hyaluronic acid to refresh and moisturise the skin.
There are various needle sizes that are used to treat different skin concerns; shorter needles penetrate the surface of the skin whereas longer needles penetrate much deeper and are used into areas that may have scarring from acne or injury.
Some people describe Collagen Induction Therapy as a virtually painless technique with a slight ‘tingling sensation’. That said, some find it painful and if this is the case your practitioner will apply a topical anaesthetic 20 minutes before the treatment to eliminate any potential pain.
Collagen Induction Therapy sessions vary depending on the size of the area being treated, and can take between 30 – 60 minutes
At Beauty Revival we recommend a course of 3 sessions to start, carried out one month apart- this is best practice for tightening and rehydrating the skin but if you have specific scarring or pigmentation issues you may need extra sessions. All of this will be discussed at your consultation.
Monthly maintenance sessions are available to keep fine lines and wrinkles at bay and keep your skin glowing and hydrated.
The cost of a monthly maintenance session is just £125
The cost of a course of 3 sessions is just £350
The cost of a course of 6 sessions is £625
